The HubSpot contact view is highly customizable. That means operations teams have the ability and the responsibility to tailor it for clarity and speed. Rather than show every possible field, show only what matters. Rather than display sections in default order, group them logically to support key sales moments. The goal is not to display more data. The goal is to help reps get what they need, when they need it, without digging.

Prioritize Key Details in the Left Sidebar

The left sidebar in HubSpot is where reps scan for quick context. This area should be clean, curated, and prioritized. Keep it focused on the information that helps reps qualify, follow up, or prepare for a conversation.

These fields are useful when the deal is early-stage or when multiple people are involved in outreach over time. Avoid cluttering this section with irrelevant or duplicative fields, and be sure to label sections clearly for ease of scanning.

Just because HubSpot allows you to store hundreds of properties does not mean every field belongs in the rep’s default view. Segment your data between what’s operational, what’s required for automation, and what’s truly needed for day-to-day selling.

For example, form tracking parameters, system-level properties, or integration-specific fields may be important for reporting or automation, but they should live in admin-only sections. Don’t let them dilute the focus of the contact view. What’s visible should serve the rep, not the system.
